National Film Commission Network Launches at Noronha2B – Film Commission Forum

From August 19 to 23, 2024, the National Film Commission Network (Refic-BR) made its official debut during the Noronha2B – Film Commission Forum (N2B) in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, Pernambuco. The event, which brought together audiovisual professionals for film screenings, debates, workshops, and project labs, served as the ideal stage to consolidate the collaborative efforts of Brazil’s film commissions.

The Refic-BR emerges as a unified voice to strengthen the national audiovisual sector. Joana Braga, coordinator of the Porto Alegre Film Commission and one of the network’s founders, emphasized: “This is a strategic step to expand our institutional representation and develop effective public policies in partnership with the Federal Government. Uniting film commissions is essential to establishing best practices and boosting Brazilian audiovisual production.”

In addition to Joana, the launch ceremony included representatives from various film commissions, such as Thaylane Cristina (Belo Horizonte-MG)Paulo Roberto (João Pessoa-PB)Zeca Brito (Pampa-RS)Felipe Dias (Salvador-BA)Natália Corrêa (Santa Cruz do Sul-RS), and Bruno Gomes (São Paulo-SP). The event was also attended by authorities including Marcelo Freixo (President of Embratur)Márcio Tavares (Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Culture), and Federal Congresswoman Jandira Feghali (RJ).

The National Film Commission Network reaffirms its commitment to professionalizing the sector, attracting productions, and fostering sustainable growth for the audiovisual industry across all regions of Brazil.
